Obtaining Books and Supplies via Emergency Student Loan

If you are eligible to receive sufficient financial assistance that will result in a credit balance for the semester, you may apply for an advance to the credit balance to purchase needed books and supplies via an Emergency Student Loan (ESL).

K-State provides short term, Emergency Student Loans (ESLs) to eligible students to assist in the purchase of needed course materials such as books/supplies as well as other immediate need educational costs. Generally, these short-term loans reflect an advance to anticipated student aid credit balances resulting from the application of federal, state, or institutional forms of financial assistance corresponding to the same semester for which the ESL is needed.

To avoid being assessed a 1.5% default fee, an ESL must be repaid within 30 days of being issued. Please refer to the University’s Late Fees policy for more details.
