·    Opening go-around, self introduction of each participant
·    Presentation by Dr. Jian Cao and Dr. George Hazelrigg (NSF Program directors) on NSF CAREER proposal Guidelines
·    Questions and answers

9:45 – 10:15 ·    Break
___________________________________________________________________________
10:15 – 12:00 ·    Three to five recent CAREER awardees present their stories and share their experiences
·    Questions and answers

12:00 – 13:30 ·    Working lunch. Participants can have interactions with NSF program directors and other participants, asking more questions, sharing what they have learned, etc.

13:30 – 16:00 ·    Dr. Cao and Dr. Hazelrigg describe procedures for a typical CAREER proposal panel meeting
·    Dividing into 3 groups for mock panel review, every panel will be led by an NSF program director.  (About 5 proposals will be sent to workshop participants four weeks before the workshop.)

16:30 – 17:00 ·    Break
___________________________________________________________________________
17:00 – 18:30 ·    Share mock panel review results from the three groups
·    Present and discuss the original reviewers’ comments and ratings on these proposals
·    In groups, brainstorm a list of Dos and Don’ts for writing successful CAREER proposals
·    Share the lists from each group
·    Workshop evaluations
18:30 – 20:00 ·    Working dinner of reception type. Participants can freely walk around to talk to others, asking more questions, sharing what they have learned, etc.
