Back to School with God Series #2

Guiding Teachers to God

Readings for August 15-21

Focus: Honor your teachers and support personnel. Help them to open their hearts to God so they can best instruct our children.

Jesus was a master teacher. He guided His Disciples and instructed others to follow God’s teachings for salvation. Teaching is at the heart of God’s plans for Christian living. As we prepare ourselves for the school year, we pause to celebrate all our teachers and pray for their wisdom as they instruct our children this coming year.

The ultimate goal for a teacher is to see that his or her students engage in good work (2 Tim. 3: 16-17; 4: 1-5). Jesus shows us the ideal example of a dynamic and powerful teacher. Regardless of what teacher role we have, God wants us to support His children by caring for their teachers.

How do our teachers support God’s plan for our children? God reminds us that teachers guide our children by:

1. Helping them to see what is right.

2. Teaching them to check or verify what is wrong.

3. Showing them how to correct their mistakes.

4. Instructing them how to apply accurate (or truthful) information to their daily life experiences.

5. Challenging them to create new ways to serve God and community.

Plan your time so that you can visit with each teach early in the school year. Better yet, volunteer some time each week to the school. God wants us to volunteer our time in service to Him.

Prayer

Father, I thank you for our teachers. Guide them to be a positive influence on the lives of our children. Help them to make learning fun, and to capture the attention of their classes in creative ways. We ask You to give our teachers insight and understanding into the lives of our children, so that they can help them with any problems our children face.

Guide our teachers to have a strong relationship with You. Direct our teachers to follow Your plan and uphold godliness in the classroom Thank you for giving our teachers favor with their students, their parents, and with administrators. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
