What is a graduation check?
The Dean's Office in the College of Arts and Sciences performs a one-time check of your academic record prior to graduation. This check will indicate which requirements are as yet unmet and the total number of hours you still need to take to reach the 124 hours needed to graduate. Request this check at the A&S Dean's Office, 117 Eisenhower Hall. It is usually advised that you request a graduation check after you have completed 80-85 hours.
What do I need to do when I'm ready to graduate?
During the first few weeks of your final semester, you will need to apply for graduation at the Arts and Sciences Dean's Office. You will list all the classes you intend to take before graduation, the mailing address for your diploma, how you want your name listed on the diploma, the degree and major you are applying for, etc. Details concerning graduation are available online at the Registrar's Office.
How do I declare a minor?
Minors are declared in the conferring department. Go to the department office to ask to have a minor added to your curriculum. You will also have to return to that department office during your graduating semester to ask them to send confirmation of the completed minor to the registrar's office.
How do I add and drop classes?
You may add and drop classes online during the first week of each semester. After that time you will need a section permission slip signed by your professor in order to add a course. Take the completed section permission slip to the Enrollment Center, 210 Willard Hall, and keep the student copy for your records.
To drop a course, just complete an ADD/DROP form at the Enrollment Center, and keep your copy for your records. Also, keep in mind that there is a last day to drop a course with a 100% refund, and a last day to drop with a 50% refund. There is also a deadline to drop courses without a "W" being noted on your transcript, and there is a deadline after which you can not drop a course. You will be sent a listserv message each semester indicating all enrollment deadlines for that term.
