When is my enrollment time?
The University has a predetermined registration date for you based upon completed (already graded) hours. The Enrollment Time Chart is posted on the Sociology Advising board, and can be found at: http://courses.k-state.edu/ . Choose the course schedule for the appropriate semester. You will find a link to the enrollment time chart under "Course Schedule Information."
Try to meet with your advisor as close to your enrollment date as possible. That way you'll be able to see which classes remain open as your enrollment date nears, and you'll be ready to enroll at your enrollment time.
How do I make an appointment with my advisor?
If you have a faculty advisor, he/she will probably have a sign-up sheet posted on his/her door by the first day of enrollment. You are welcome to meet with your advisor at any time. The main Sociology Office, 204 Waters Hall, 532-6865, has a listing of professors' office hours.
Appointments for the lead advisor, Lynne Davy, usually get filled two weeks in advance, so sign up with that in mind. A sign up sheet is always taped to the Advising Office door, Waters 203. (Due to the heavy advising load, E-MAILING FOR AN APPOINTMENT MAY NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE.) You are welcome to call the Advising Office, 532-4958, during office hours to make an appointment.
By the time freshmen and sophomores are scheduled to enroll, classes have already started to close. Therefore, to be sure of class availability freshmen and sophomores should make appointments as close to their enrollment time as possible, keeping in mind the possible two week lag in appointment availability.
What should I bring to my appointment?
It's always good to sketch out a course plan before your advising meeting.
Where do I find the course listings?
http://courses.k-state.edu/ and http://www.dce.ksu.edu/courses/ This page is the Division of Continuing Education's course search page. You can either find a specific course offering by entering the c ourse #: (e.g., CIS 200) or you can find all the offerings for a specific intersession or semester by choosing the appropriate boxes.
To determine what courses you need, consult your DARS report in iSIS
Can I waive Pre-Enrollment advising?
Yes. Advising Waiver Forms are available at the departmental office, Waters 204. It is strongly advised that seniors NOT waive their advising appointments. If you sign up too late to get an appointment before your enrollment time, you may use a waiver to get your flag lifted; enroll in those courses that you know you need; and make an appointment with me later to double check your choices.
