A. Elizabeth (Betsy) Cauble, PhD, LMSW, Head Department of Sociology , Anthropology , and Social Work and Associate Professor of Social Work , has been at KSU since 1993. Prior to coming, Dr. Cauble was a child welfare administrator at Franklin County Children's Services in Columbus , Ohio . She has also been director of a hospital social work department, a family therapist, director of a custody mediation research project, and a foster parent. At KSU, Dr. Cauble has been involved in the development of child welfare training modules, co-directed the SRS Training Grant from 1997 to 2000, and conducted focus groups throughout Kansas as part of a US Department of Justice Grant through the Juvenile Justice Authority of Kansas to assess community needs in the area of juvenile justice. She served on the board of the National Association of Social Work ers. Her primary area of teaching is social work practice and public policy. Dr. Cauble's research interests involve the child welfare system and how violence agains t children constitutes a health risk to the community and behavioral health preparedness, response, and recovery relative to rural areas.
