Wednesday, July 23 • by Sculler (10:41 AM) •
The Kansas State Men's Crew is very proud to announce the scheduled attendance of the 126th Annual Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, August 4th - 10th. Ryan Claussen - Manhattan High School junior and rower for Manhattan Junior Crew, Brian Ransom - 6 year veteran of Kansas State Rowing Association and current Head Coach of the Men's Crew, Matt Cotton - Novice Man of the Year 2008, Nic Sessions - Captain and Hannah Pease - recent Manhattan High School graduate and coxswain for Men's Crew are entering a lightweight four. Stephanie Beach - rower, coxswain and 7 year veteran of KSRA is entering a lightweight women's single. Craig Doan - 8 year veteran, former Head Coach and Captain, and Joey Lightner - former President of Men's Crew are competing for the Heavyweight Men's Pair trophy.

Despite heat and hectic summer schedules the crews have been training twice a day for most of the summer. The men of the pair and four practice at 6 am and 6 pm on Tuttle Creek Reservoir while Beach, doing an internship in Wichita for the summer, has been rowing with Wichita Rowing Association.

The crews would like to give thanks for the support of Kansas State Rowing Association, Kansas State Men's Crew Executive Board, the members of the Board of Director's and the alumni that have allowed them the chance to represent KSRA, KSU and midwest rowing at such a prestigious regatta.

The Pair placed 6th with a 2000m time of 8:25. The Pair was stroked by 8 year veteran and former team captain, Craig Doan. The bowman for the pair was former team president and Varsity Rower of the Year, Joey Lightner. The Four placed third with a time of 7:36. The Four was stroked by first semester rower, Landon Vincent; at three seat was the Czech big man, Tomas Micek; at two seat was McPhearson native Matt Cotton; and at bow was current team captain and Novice Rower of the Year, Nic Sessions. The Four was only beaten by 14 seconds by 4 year highschool veteran's from California-Long Beach and Old Dominion. Adopt-a-Rower
Wednesday, February 13 • by Sculler (8:43 AM) •
Adopt-a-Rower is a mentorship and financial assistance program created in Fall 2007 by
Coach Don Rose. The intent of the program is to encourage family, friends, and KSU Crew
Alumni to help the current rowers with the expense of rowing but more so to provide
guidance to our current rowers. Each adopted rower is required to provide updates on
regattas and other crew events like our Alumni Banquet in October. Sponsors may provide
rowers with up to $500 per year to cover the cost of regattas, dues, and uniforms. Any
Adopt-a-Rower donation not specified for a person will be awarded to a current rower
based on their personal essay entitled "Why I want to spend an hour on the water a day."
The best essays are selected by a current Kansas State Rowing Association Board of Director's
member and a former Men's Crew athlete.

If any alumni who wishes to donate or has questions please feel free to email Joey Lightner, Men's
Crew President at lightner@ksu.edu.
