Human parasitology laboratory tutorial

The photograph on the left is a from a spleen smear of an Indian student (from India; not a native American) with fever, malaise, and an enlarged liver and spleen. The student has never been south of the Kansas/Oklahoma border. The tiny parasites measure about 3 micrometers in length. A blood smear was negative for parasites. What species is probably represented?

Cryptosporidium parvum
Leishmania donovani
Trypanosoma rhodesiense
Trypanosoma cruzi
