Biology 546
Human parasitology laboratory tutorial

A 26 year old male graduate student spent a month performing ecological research at a biological field station in Paraguay. Upon returning to Kansas State University, he noticed several swollen lesions on his arms and legs, one of which is shown on the left. Close examinations and prodding occasionally resulted in movement of "something" (Egad!) within the lesions. What species is represented?

Dermatobia hominis
Glossina sp.
Simulium sp.
Tabanus sp.
