WIRED. . . KSU Percussion Ensemble Concert
The KSU Percussion Ensemble will present its fall concert
on Wednesday, November 5. This semester's performance will feature multimedia
works including digital audio and video components. Joining the ensemble
will be Kansas City artist Brandon Draper, who will combine looping techniques
with percussion performance. Also, Sabrina Peña Young, composer
of the newly-commissioned "World Order #5" will be in attendance.
The concert, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in McCain Auditorium, is free and
open to the public. See

Student Chapter of Percussive Arts Society
The
KSU Student Chapter of PAS coordinates and produces events such as visiting
artist clinics and concerts for the percussion studio and broader KSU
community.

Meet
Emory Dease - 2008-2009 Percussion Graduate Assistant
Originally
from Overland Park, Kansas, Emory Dease received his undergraduate degree
from Central College in Pella, Iowa, studying percussion under Stan Dahl.
While earning his B.A. in Music Education, Emory performed in numerous
ensembles at the college including the nationally recognized "Flying Pans"
steel band. Emory was also the winner of the 2007 Central College Concerto
and Aria competition, performing on solo vibraphone. Emory has spent three
years as Director of Percussion at Newton High School in Newton, IA, where
he concurrently fulfilled his student teaching duties. Emory's percussion
arrangements have been heard across the Midwest, as performed by the award-winning
"Newton Cardinal Regiment."
