Rush

What is rush?

Rush is a great way to learn more about Kappa Sigma. It is the process of checking out our house and meeting our members before you join.

How does the process work?

Submit your information to us and we will contact you to arrange a meeting. After you have met with us, if you have shown interest and we are interested in you, you will be offered a bid. You can decline if you are not interested in joining, but accepting makes you a pledge.

What is a pledge?

A pledge is an associate member of the fraternity.

What happens during the pledge period?

You will learn Kappa Sigma's history, traditions, and values. Pledges are in charge of planning fundraising events, organizing our annual Red Dog Date Party, and planning functions with sorority pledge classes. As a pledge, you will participate in My Brother's Keeper, Kappa Sigma's nationally-recognized alcohol awareness and control program. New members also have mandatory study hours three hours per night, four nights a week. This is a great aid in settling in to college life and the rigors of studying. At the end of the pledge period, you are then initiated and become a full member of the fraternity.

How long is Kappa Sigma's pledge period?

Kappa Sigma has an 8 week pledge period. You may pledge in the beginning of the fall or spring semesters.

Will I be hazed?

Kappa Sigma has a national anti-hazing policy. Our new member program is free of hazing and discourages any action that is harmful or offensive to any person.

Why join Kappa Sigma?

Kappa Sigma is for any man who wants a fun and meaningful college experience. As any member of our house can tell you, membership in Kappa Sigma is a fun and rewarding experience, offering social, academic, and leadership opportunities you can't get anywhere else. With an extensive scholarship program, excellent social scene, valuable leadership opportunities, and a well-connected alumni group, Kappa Sigma is an excellent asset for any college student.

What else does Kappa Sigma offer?

The Kappa Sigma Scholarship program, the largest in the fraternal world, distributes $250,000 to brothers annually. Brothers at Kansas State have won nearly $10,000 total in the past four years. The chapter also provides scholarship money to all brothers recieving above a 3.0 GPA in a semester.

Who is Kappa Sigma looking for?

We are devoted to finding young men who will enhance and improve our brotherhood. If you are committed to participating in our house activities, chapter meetings, community service projects, and leadership programs, we are looking for you.
