Recruitment Procedures for Filling Classified Vacancies
The following items are part of the Recruitment Package:
Please return the following forms with all original documents
- Applicant Summary of Eligible Candidates
- Original Application Materials of All Candidates:
Original Application Documents are submitted to departments without
the Division of Human Resources retaining a copy. The initial responsibility for safeguarding the documents
will be that of the hiring department. After completing the recruitment process, submit the
appointment papers and return all original recruitment documents to our office. Those documents will be retained
as part of the permanent recruitment file.
- Copy of Request for Certified Names(PER-5) and the recruitment Position Summary
- Affirmative Action Classified Selection Report(PER-10)
- Initial screening of candidates prior to interview(AA-28)

The above items must be completed during the screening and selection process.
Screening and Selection Process for Filling Classified Vacancies
- Develop interview and employment reference questions.
- Determine the screening criteria and the weight for each criterion and enter them on the AA-28.
- Evalutate the application materials of each applicant based on the screening criteria. Enter the ratings
and scores on the AA-28.
- Select the applicants whose qualifications make them suitable candidates to interview.
- Contact the Office of Affirmative Action at 532-6220 to discuss the screening process and applicants
selected for interview prior to contacting applicants to schedule interviews.
- Interview applicants prior to making contact with employment references.
- List the applicants invited to interview on the PER-10.
- Contact the Office of Affirmative Action at 532-6220 to confer prior to extending a job offer.
- Offer the position to the selected applicant. If the applicant accepts the job offer, set a start
date and complete the appropriate hiring paperwork.
- Complete the PER-10, including an explanation for selection.
- Send the PER-10 to the Office of Affirmative Action, 214 Anderson Hall.
- Notify all other applicants that the position has been filled. Sample
