WELCOME SPRING!!!!!!

Text Box:

It’s that time of year again. Those Spring showers can create a problem for the Central Mail Service metering machines. We ask that you call and request sleeves to put the trays of letters in, and lids for the mail tubs if you use them. They tell us that one drop of rain can stick 10 letters to together, so you can imagine what a spring shower can do to a tray of mail. Please contact Connie at 2-7751 to ask for the sleeves and lids for the USPS trays and tubs.

Contract Post Office Corner

The Contract Post Office has received most of the new denominations of stamps for the increase that went into effect on January 8, 2006. The rate increase not only affected the Domestic rates but also the International rates. We will have in stock the following denominations for Domestic mail:

63 cents for the 2 ounce postage

87 cents for the 3 ounce postage

24 cents for the additional ounce and post card rate

We will also have in stock the following denominations for International mail:

63 cents for the 1st ounce to Canada and Mexico

84 cents for the 1st ounce for all other countries

55 cents for post cards to Canada and Mexico

75 cents for post cards for all other countries

2006 Stamp Program

The following link will go to a colorful poster that shows the entire stamp program for 2006. The stamps shown will be issued throughout 2006. Generally there are 2 new stamps issued per month, so if you have a favorite on the poster the staff at the Contract Post Office should be able to come close on the release date for that particular stamp. Several customers comment on enjoying seeing what is coming so that they can plan for special occasion postage stamps.

Mail Prep 101

This session familiarizes employees with Central Mail and the variety of services that the unit provides. The class is repeated semi- annually, so if you have attended a previous class and you need a refresher please feel free to enroll. If you have new students or staff handling your department’s mail you should consider having them attend.

Learn why successful processing and quick delivery are dependent upon how departments prepare campus and off-campus mailings. Gain a better understanding of addressing campus mail and outbound mail, selecting the appropriate envelope or package, understanding campus distribution, using campus service locations, sending parcels or packages; and using other campus mail services to save your department time, money and frustration.

This class is on March 16, 2006 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the K-State Student Union Room 213. The class is limited to 30 participants. Please register to ensure adequate seating and handouts. E-mail training@ksu.edu to register. Please include your name, department, employee ID number (required), course title and course date. Your enrollment will be confirmed by an e-mail response to the sender.
