Undergraduate Studies in English

An English major is arguably one of the most versatile degrees you can earn. Our faculty specialize in everything from Old English to modern popular culture, from acknowledged classics to texts that push the boundaries of what we think of as literature. Using every means available, including books, videos, slides, computers, the world-wide-web, our dedicated staff of teacher-researchers seeks to prepare you for the challenges you will meet in the future. Our small classes ensure personal attention and stimulating discussion. In addition to preparing you for the future, you will be introduced to the curious, fascinating, endlessly various world of literature. We offer courses in well-known authors and unusual ones, standard genres and genres-in-the-making, as well as many different kinds of writing (creative, professional, expository).
