Fields of interest:
Latina/o Literature and Culture; Contemporary American Literature; Ethnic Studies; Cultural Studies; Gender Studies; Feminist Discourses; Gothic Studies.

Tanya González specializes in U.S. Latina/o Studies and Ethnic American Literature.  She teaches courses in American Literature, Cultural Studies and Latina/o Studies. Her dissertation, Murders, Madness, Monsters:  Latina/o Gothic in the U.S., highlights the ways Latina/o authors and filmmakers have challenged sexist, racist and homophobic views within their communities.  Her current research continues to explore the ways literature, film and popular culture represent “otherness” as “monstrous.”  She also serves as Vice President of the Latina/o Literature and Culture Society of the American Literature Association.
