About Online Registration for Counseling Services We want to introduce you to our procedures at KSU Counseling Services. Please make sure that you read and understand the following information about our services. If you have questions after reading this statement, please contact us by email at counsel@ksu.edu or by phone at 785-532-6927. WHAT CAN I EXPECT?The first session is a free consultation in which the counselor will help you explore your concerns and identify resources that may assist you. If further services at Counseling Services are recommended, the counselor will help you set goals, make a plan, and estimate the time it will take to reach your goals. HOW WILL MY COUNSELOR BE ASSIGNED? Typically, the counselor who will see you for the consultation session will be assigned by matching your schedule to the first available counselor. When you phone our office to schedule your first appointment, please let us know if you have a special request (a particular gender, specialty, or a counselor you have seen previously) and we will attempt to accommodate your request.HOW MUCH WILL COUNSELING COST? When services are appropriate at KSU-CS, the following small fees will be charged:Individual counseling: First 4 sessions (includes the initial consultation) ......... No charge Sessions 5-10.............$14/session Sessions 11 or more.......... $24/session Groups: per session $6 Biofeedback: per session $6 There are also fees for assessments and for psychiatric consultations. Please call or come in to see our full fee schedule. You will be charged for sessions unless you cancel 24 hours in advance. WILL MY INSURANCE COVER KSU-CS SERVICES? Your insurance may not cover some of the services provided here. We encourage you to check with your insurance carrier regarding coverage for our services once a treatment plan is decided. If you do decide to submit your KSU-CS bills for insurance reimbursement, please discuss this with your counselor; we will provide needed information for you to submit any claim. Please keep in mind that we do not submit insurance materials for you. CONFIDENTIALITY Counseling is a confidential service. Anything you say to a counselor, the fact that you used services, or test results, will not be disclosed to other persons, departments, or agencies within or outside of the university without your written permission within legal limitations. No information about counseling goes on your academic record. There are some legal limits to confidentiality; we are required to report
STANDARDS The Counseling Service, the pre-doctoral psychology internship program, and the professional staff adhere to the ethical code of the American Psychological Association. All licensed professional staff are also bound by the regulations outlined by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. SUPERVISION AND RECORDING The Counseling Service is an agency accredited by the American Psychological Association as a training site for pre-doctoral psychology interns. As such, it is the agency commitment to assure the highest quality of service through supervision of all trainees by senior staff who are licensed psychologists. Supervision may include the recording of sessions and on some occasions a supervisor being present for a session as a consultant. Any recording that is done is viewed only by the supervisor and will be erased after review. If you have any questions or concern about the supervision process you may inform the receptionist at the time your appointment is made. The receptionist may be able to clarify questions or will put you in contact with a counselor to respond or make adjustments in your appointment to satisfy your needs. Submitting this registration will assume your consent unless you later express exception to this procedure. You may also use our printable form to print a more detailed hard copy of this information to keep and read later. At the time of your first appointment, you will be asked to sign a similar form. Additionally, by submitting this, you are giving your consent to the transfer of your information over the Internet, via our secure server.
