Computing labs
(access to your eID and e-mail)
Manhattan campus: Five university computing labs,
plus the K-State InfoCommons in Hale Library,
allow access to the Internet, Web, and K-State's computing network. The labs are in 22-25 Seaton
Hall, 21 Nichols Hall, 1-1A Dickens Hall, 325 Justin Hall, and the Union Copy Center.

Computing labs are also available in the residence halls for residents.
Salina campus: Eight campus computing labs allow access to the Internet,
Web, the Salina campus, and the main campus' computing network: Technology Center
116, 119, 163, 167, 182, Aero Center 149, Academic Achievement Center in Tullis 101, and
the library. Computer labs are also in the residence halls for building residents.
Computing help
The K-State IT Help Desk provides free computing help for
K-Staters on topics including e-mail, computers, Unix, networks, dial-in, Internet, Web,
and more. Send e-mail to helpdesk@k-state.edu,
phone (785) 532-7722, or visit 313 Hale Library (open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday).

Use of your K-State eID constitutes acceptance of K-State's
Information Technology Usage Policy. K-State IT policies and guidelines are at

Your K-State eID is part of your e-mail address (eID@k-state.edu) and
is the key to your e-mailbox, disk space, and a personal webpage. The university
sends important notices to your central e-mail address, including deadlines, financial-aid
data, and official memos.
As a new student, you should register and select your eID and password, and set your e-mail
options. For details about your eID and what it provides, see
www.k-state.edu/computingID.

1. Register and select your eID
Go to the eid.k-state.edu webpage and select the Register
button to select your eID. Be sure to complete all 6 steps and select the Confirm button at the end. |
2. Set your e-mail options
If you read your e-mail elsewhere, you can forward your @k-state.edu e-mail to another
address by changing your eProfile settings at eid.k-state.edu. |
3. Check your directory information
Your @k-state.edu e-mail address is published in the K-State People Directory (previously called
the White Pages) at www.k-state.edu/Directories/wp. After
the first two weeks of the fall semester, it's also put in the paper Campus Phone Book.
To have your e-mail address and other data unlisted in the online People Directory,
take your photo ID and visit the InfoTech Help Desk, 313
Hale Library (Manhattan campus) or the Office of Information Systems, 184
Technology Center (Salina campus).
To remove your personal data from the Campus Phone Book or other
K-State listings, visit the Registrar's Office on
the Manhattan campus or the Salina campus. |
