The intent of computing at K-State is to promote administrative, educational, and research efforts. Due to limited resources, congestion in the labs and on the systems, and disruptive behavior, Computing and Network Services has set these rules for use of all CNS equipment:
Recreational computing includes playing MUDs, Netrek and other games, and other extracurricular computing activities.
Academic use has priority over recreational web browsing and social use such as IRC.
These rules apply to CNS equipment regardless if it's accessed remotely, from an on-campus office, or a university computing lab. CNS equipment includes terminals, PCs, and Unix workstations in the labs, and use of the central IBM server, central Unix servers, and modem and terminal servers.
Failure to follow these rules may result in loss of access to CNS equipment. The first violation of this policy may result in the suspension of user IDs on CNS equipment for one week. Subsequent violations may result in the suspension of user IDs on CNS equipment for an extended period, as well as further university sanctions based on the violation.
If you have questions regarding this policy, send e-mail to consult@ksu.edu.
