Two KSU chemists earn National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships !

 

Matt Basel and Meg Fasulo each have been awarded prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships in the 2007 competition.

Matt will pursue his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Kansas State, while Meg will join the Chemistry Department at the University of California - Berkeley this Fall.

Matt's research on bio-inorganic chemistry has been directed by Prof. Stefan Bossmann; Meg's research on supramolecular chemistry has been directed by Prof. Christer Aakeröy.

There were a total of 910 such awards made nationwide in 2007.

Each NSF Graduate Research Fellowship provides an annual stipend of $30,000, plus a cost-of-education allowance of up to $10,500 per year. The awards are for a maximum of three years, usable over a five-year period. In addition, Fellows are provided a one-time International Research Travel Allowance of $1,000.

Matt and Meg were both named as Goldwater Scholars in 2005.
