Cecilia Ariga
Cecilia was initiated into Beta Rho on November 21, 2003.  She is currently a Senior in Chemistry and Pre-Medicine. She is originally from Kisii, Kenya and works as a certified nurse's aide at St. Joseph Village and for the Department of Chemistry mixing solutions for labs to fund her education.
Joe Atkins
Joe was initiated into Beta Rho on December 2, 2005 He is a doctoral student in Chemistry.
                

Jennifer Stegman            
Jennifer was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 17, 2006.  She is a Sophomore in Biochemistry and Pre-Medicine.  She served as the 2007 Beta Rho Chapter Recorder.  She currently serves as Master Alchemist. 
Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a 2007 Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Research Scholar and works in the lab of Dr. Ted Morgan in the Department of Biology where she is working on a project developing a set of molecular markers based on single feature polymorphisms data in artificial selection lines. 
Jim Hodgson
Jim was initiated into 
Beta Rho on March 17, 1998.  He is the Senior Scientific Glassblower for the Department of Chemistry.  He served as Chapter Advisor from 2004 to 2006.

Jithma Abeykoon
Jithma was initiated into Beta Rho on November 16, 2007.  He is a Freshman in Biochemistry.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is a member of the Sri Lanka Students' Association.

Tyler Koehn                                              
Tyler was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  He is a Senior in Biology. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is Philanthropy Chair of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.     

Robert Christian
Robert was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 17, 2006.  He is a Sophomore in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science.  He served as the Social Activities Coordinator in 2007 and the 2007 Haunted Hunt co-chair. Robert currently serves as Vice-Master Alchemist.

Dan Madgwick                    
Dan was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  He is a Masters Student in Biochemistry.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is a recipient of a Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Undergraduate Research Award.

Tom Bays   
Tom was initiated into Beta Rho on March 30, 2001.  He is a Fourth Year Veterinary Medicine Student.

Mark Battig
Mark was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on March 31, 2006.  He is currently a Junior in Chemical Engineering. Mark currently serves as Master of Ceremonies.

Lance Williamson
Lance was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  He is a Senior in Chemical Engineering and served as Reporter in 2006.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Sara Powell
Sara was initiated into Beta Rho on November 17, 2006. She is a Junior in Biology and served as Alumni Secretary in 2007.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Katie Brewer
Katie was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 17, 2006.  She is a Sophomore in Chemistry and currently serves as Reporter.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is Treasurer of the K-State Juggling Club.

Julien Saint Paul
Julien was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 20, 2007.  He is a Masters Student in Grain Science.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Bakery Science Club.

Brette Cochenour
Brette was initiated into Beta Rho on November 19, 2004.  She is a Senior in Chemical Engineering and Biology. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma she is an Engineering Ambassador.
Elizabeth Blaesi
Elizabeth was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  She is a Senior in Chemistry and served as Reporter in 2007.  She is currently Recorder. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she works in the lab of Dr. John Tomich in the Department of Biochemistry.  

Ariel Burns
Ariel was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  She is a Senior in Biochemistry.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she works in the Kansas Lipidomics Research Center in the Division of Biology.  

Jeanne Pierzynski
Jeanne was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on March 31, 2006.  She is a Junior in Biochemistry and served as Recorder in Fall 2006.

Melissa Waller
Melissa was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 17, 2006 and in a Sophomore in Agricultural Economics and Pre-Veterinary Medicine.  She served as the Master of Sustenance in 2007.  She currently serves as Treasurer. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a Resident Assistant in Goodnow Hall.
Larry Erickson   
Dr. Erickson was initiated into the
Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 1978.  He is currently a Professor of Chemical Engineering and directs the Center for Hazardous Substance Research.  Dr. Erickson received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from K-State in 1960 and his Ph.D in 1964 from K-State in Chemical Engineering, which was the first doctorate issued by in Chemical Engineering program.  He was a National Defense Education Act Fellow for his graduate studies, which was the most prestigious honor a graduate student could receive at the time.  He joined the K-State Chemical Engineering faculty in 1964 and became a full professor after only eight years.  In his more than forty years of service to the field of chemical engineering, he has published nearly 400 papers covering a wide range of topics and is co-author of chapters in six books.  He has advised nearly 60 graduate students and taught over 1000 undergraduate students.  In addition to membership in Alpha Chi Sigma, he is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Sigma Psi, the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Microbiology, the Editorial Advisory Board of Environmental Progress, and the Society of Fermentation Technology of Japan and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.  Among the numerous award he has received are the 2006 Phi Kappa Phi Faculty Scholar Award, 2006 AIChE Environmental Division Lawrence K. Cecil Award, the 2001 Irvin E. Youngberg Award   His research interests include biochemical engineering, biological waste treatment process design and synthesis, mathematical optimization, transport theory, boundary layer theory, and environmental engineering.

Earline Dikeman
Earline was initiated into Beta Rho on December 1, 1995.  She is Director of Laboratories for the Department of Chemistry. She is always willing to lend a hand to Alpha Chi Sigma and its members.

Theresa Marchioni
Theresa was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on March 31, 2006.  She is a Senior in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Chemistry.  She has served as the Outreach Coordinator since 2007. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a Resident Assistant in Moore Hall.

Lydia (Roberts) Barrigan
Lydia was initiated into Beta Rho on November 19, 2004.  She is a Senior in Chemistry and Biochemistry and served as Master Alchemist in 2006 and 2007.  She is a recipient of a Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Undergraduate Research Award, a Phi Kappa Phi Undergraduate Scholarship, the Anderson Award for Outstanding Academics, the Theresa Ann Tollefson Memorial Scholarship, and the Beta Rho Chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma Scholarship. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society,Alpha Chi Omega, and the Order of Omega Greek Honorary.  She also works in the laboratory of Dr. Duy Hua in the Department of Chemistry.

Stefan Bossmann
Dr. Bossman was initiated into Beta Rho on November 17, 2006.  He is a Professor of Chemistry, Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Scientist, and a Fellow of the Midwest Institute for Comparative Stem Cell Biology. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Saarland, Germany in 1988 and 1991.  He joined the K-State faculty in 2004.  His research explores the unique physical and chemical properties of channel proteins isolated from Mycobacterium smegmatis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Andrew Kerns
Andrew was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on March 31, 2006.  He is a Junior in Biochemistry and served as Treasurer in Fall 2006 and 2007.  He currently serves as Social Activities Coordinator.

Tony Kuckelman
Tony was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  He is a Senior in Secondary Education and served as Master of Ceremonies in 2006 and 2007.
Adam Brooks
Adam was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 13, 2002.  He is a Masters Student in Nuclear Engineering working on a CdZnTe Frisch collar array for gamma ray imaging and spectroscopy.  He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Biochemistry from Kansas State in 2006.

Hannah Johnson
Hannah was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007.  She is a Freshman in Chemistry and currently serves as Historian.
Josh Pritts                                              
Josh was initiated into Beta Rho on April 30, 2004.  He is a Senior in Geology and served as Treasurer in 2005.

Lucas Carpenter  
Lucas was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  He is a Junior in Life Science.
Jennifer Sands
Jennifer was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  She received her B.S. in Microbiology in May 2006 from Kansas State University.  She is currently employed as Laboratory Technician II in the Department of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology of the College of Veterinary Medicine.  She currently serves as Alumni Secretary.

Pinakin was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  He is a Masters Student in Biochemistry.

Melissa Veldman
Melissa was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  She is a Senior in Biochemistry and currently serves as Master of Sustenance.

Christopher J. Levy
Dr. Levy was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry and has served as Chapter Advisor since Fall 2006.  He received his B.S. in 1989 from Dalhousie University and a B.Ed. and Ph.D. from the University of Wester Ontario in 1995.  In 2004 he received the National Science Foundation Early Career Award.   He conducts research in Organometallic Chemistry.

Sundeep Rayat
Dr. Rayat was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005. She is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry, a Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Scientist, and a 2006 Wakonse Fellow.  She received her B.S and M.S. from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India in 1994 and 1996 and her Ph.D. from the University of Missour-Columbia.  She joined the K-State faculty in 2005.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is the Chair-Elect of the Kansas State University American Chemical Society Local Section.

Caitie Palko
Caitie was initiated into Beta Rho on November 17, 2006.  She is a Junior in Nutritional Science.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Alpha Epsilon Delta Health Preprofessional Honor Society.

Maureen was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  She is a Senior in Chemistry and is a recipient of a Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Undergraduate Research Award.


Katie Simmons
Katie was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  She is a Senior in Secondary Education with concentration in Chemistry and Earth Science.


Sanmitra Barman
Sanmitra was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  He is a Doctoral Student in Chemistry.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is Chair of the Graduate Student Council International Student Affairs Committee.  

Sarah Shultz
Sarah was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  She is a Senior in Biological & Agricultural Engineering and Pre-Veterinary Medicine.  She served as webmaster in 2006.

Michelle Higgins
Michelle was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  She is a Senior in Nutrional Sciences and Biochemistry.  She recipient of the Phi Kappa Phi Undergraduate Scholarship. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Human Ecology Honors Program.

Mary Rezac 
Dr. Rezac was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 13, 1985.  She is Professor and Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and is the first woman department head in the College of Engineering.  She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from K-State in 1987, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and 1993, respectively.  She joined the K-State faculty at K-State in 2002 and has more than fifty publications to her credit.  Her research interests include mass transport, polymer science, membrane separation processes, and hybrid system designs.

Andrew Brown
Andrew was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  He is a Senior in Pre-Pharmacy. Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Amy Twite
Amy was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  
She is a Senior in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.  She served as Outreach Coordinator in 2006.  Amy is a Marshall Scholarship nominee and a recipient of the Goldwater Scholarship, a KSU Foundation Scholarship, June Sherrid Hull Basic Cancer Research Center Scholarship, King Memorial Scholarship, and the Division of Biology's Most Promising Student Award.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a 2005 Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Research Scholar, and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Students for Environmental Action, Alpha Epsilon Mu Microbiology Club, and the Archery Club.  She is participating in undergraduate research on "Characterizing New Perylene Diimides as Potential Cancer Therapy Treatment Molecules" under the supervision of Daniel Higgins, associate professor of chemistry and has worked as a chemistry lab teaching assistant.

Larry Seitz
Dr. Seitz was initiated into Beta Rho on December 9, 1967.  He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Grain Science and Industry.

Takashi Ito
Dr. Ito was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  He is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry.  He earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1993, 1995, and 1998, respectively.  He joined the K-State faculty in 2004.  His research interests are in analytical chemistry, nanomaterials, electrochemistry, and microfluidics.


Chris Jones
Chris was initiated into Beta Rho on April 20, 2007.  He is a Sophomore in Chemistry.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma he si a member of the Union Program Council, Silver Key Leadership Honorary, and Chimes Junior Honorary.

Allison Hadley
Allison was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005
.  She is Junior in Chemistry and served as Historian in 2006.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a Secretary of the Order of Omega Greek Honorary and a member of Alpha Xi Delta.

J. Scott Smith
Dr. Smith was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on February 16, 1974.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry for the Department of Animals Sciences and performs research at the Food Science Institute.  He earned his B.S. in Biology from Brescia College in 1972, his M.S. in Biochemistry from Kansas State in 1975, and his Ph.D. in Food Science from Penn State University in 1981.  He joined the K-State Faculty in 1989.  Dr. Smith is Chair of the Toxicology and Safety Evaluation Division and Chair of the Food Chemistry Division Graduate Student Poster Competition in the Institute of Food Technologists.  He is also a member of the Agricultural and Food Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society, the AOAC, the American Association fort he Advancement of Science, and Phi Tau Sigma Honorary Society.  His research programs are in the areas of food analysis and toxicology.

Tara Kalivoda
Tara was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on March 31, 2006.  She is a Junior in Chemical Engineering.

Jerod Junghans
Jerod was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  He is a Senior in Construction Science and Management.

Kyle Swanson
Kyle was initiated into Beta Rho on April 30, 2004.  He is a Masters Student in Chemical Engineering.

Christopher T. Culbertson
Dr. Culbertson was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005 and is an Associate Professor of Chemistry.  He earned his B.S. in Biology from Harvard College in 1988, his B.S. in Chemistry at the University of West Florida in 1991, and his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996.  He joined the K-State faculty in 2002.  Dr. Culbertson is the recipient of the American Chemical Society Division of Analytical Chemistry's 2006 Award for Young Investigators in Separations Science, the 2007 Masao Horiba Award for "Rapid Analysis of Individual T-Lymphocyte Cells on Microfluidic Devices,"  K-State's 2007 Segebrecht Distinguished Teaching Faculty Achievement Award, and a $530,000 National Science Foundation grant to develop "lab-on-a-chip" technology.

Ronald L. Madl
Dr. Madl was initiated into Beta Rho on May 13, 1967 and is Director of the university's Bioprocessing and Industrial Value-Added Program.  He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Baker University, a M.S. in Physical Chemistry from Kansas State University, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Kansas State University.  Dr. Madl joined the K-State Administration in 1997.  He is a member for the American Association of Cereal Chemists, the American Chemical Society, the Inistitute of Food Technologyise, and the National Corn Growers Association.


Laura Grauer
Laura was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005.  She is a Senior in Biochemistry/Pre-pharmacy.  She is a recipient of a Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Undergraduate Research Award.  Outside of Alpha Chi SIgma, she is  a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Golden Key, and Gamma Sigma Delta Agriculture Honorary.

Alyssa Warneke
Alyssa was initiated into Beta Rho on November 19, 2004.  She is a second year Veterinary Medicine student.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Trapper Callender
Trapper was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 29, 2005 and served as Social Activities Coordinator in 2006.  He is a Junior in Anthropology andPresident of the Paintball Club.

Stefan Kraft
Dr. Kraft was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005 and is an Assitant Professor of Chemistry.  He earned his M.S. from the University of Heidelberg in 1995 and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2001.  He joined the K-State faculty in 2003.  


Bjai Rice
Bjai was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on December 2, 2005.  She is a Senior in Biology and Pre-Medicine.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Muticultural Honor Society.

Daniel Higgins
Dr. Higgins was initiated into Beta Rho on April 17, 1998.  He is a Professor of Chemistry.  He earned his B.S. from St. Olaf College in 1988 and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1993.  He joined the K-State faculty in 1996 and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society,

Kenneth J. Klabunde
Dr. Klabunde was initiated into the Alpha Theta Chapter in 1966.  He is currently a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry.  He received a B.A. in chemistry from Augustana College in 1965 and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Iowa in 1969. He joined the K-State faculty in 1979 and served as head of the Department of Chemistry until 1988.  He was named a university distinguished professor in 1988.  Dr. Klanunde is an internationally known expert in the field of metal atom chemistry and in nanoscale particles.  He has delivered more than 100 lectures in 14 different countries and is the author or nearly 400 professional publications.  In 1990, he patented a new method for coating substrates.  In addition to his position at K-State, he serves as Founding Director and Consultant for Nanoscale Materials, Inc., a company that came about as a result of his research.  Dr. Klabunde has received numerous awards throughout his career including the 1998 Midwest Award from the St. Louis section of the American Chemical Society, the Technology of the Year Award by the Silicon Prairie Technology Associatation in 1996, the Olin Petefish Award in the Basic Sciences in 1995, and the Conoco Distinguished Graduate Faculty Member in 1992.  He is a member of several professional organizations in addition to Alpha Chi Sigma including the American Chemical Society, Phi Lambda Upsilon, and Sigma Xi.

Amanda Meyer                                       
Amanda was initiated into Beta Rho on April 11, 2003. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Kansas State University in 2004.  She is currently a Doctoral Student in Chemistry.

Ryan Green
Ryan was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 22, 1991.  He is a Program Associate at the Center for Hazardous Substance Resarch.

Kelsey Pearson
Kelsey was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007.  She is a Sophomore in Biochemistry.

Benjamin Champion
Dr. Champion was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on April 7, 2000 and is an Instructor in the Department of Geography.  He earned his B.A. in Chemistry from Kansas State in 2002.  He is a 2003 Rhodes Scholar and completed his Ph.D. at Oxford University in 2007.

Nadja was initiated into Beta Rho on November 19, 2004.  She is a Senior in Mechanical Engineering with the Nuclear Option.

T.J. Kiser
T.J. was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007.  He is currently a Senior in Chemical Engineering.

Ryan Hill
Ryan was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007. He is currently a  Junior in Biochemistry.  Outside of Alpha Chi Sigma, he works in the lab of Dr. John Tomich in the Department of Biochemistry.  He is currently the Beta Rho Webmaster.

Brenton Shanks
Brenton was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007.  He is currently a Sophomore in Clinical Laboratory Science & Medical Technology.

Chris Tuinenga
Chris was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007.  He is currently a doctoral student in Chemistry.  Outside of AXSigma, he is Vice-President on the Paintball Club.

Hallie Botter
Hallie was initiated into the Beta Rho Chapter on November 16, 2007.  She is currently a Junior in Secondary Education-Science.
