Wood Shop Regulations

• Clean up after yourself!
• The shop is available during the posted hours only.
• Emergency numbers are posted beside the door.
• The first-aid kit is located on top of the wall-mounted tool cabinet near the desk.
• The fire extinguisher is mounted on the side of the counter near the door.
• Face shields or approved safety glasses must be worn AT ALL TIMES when working with any free-standing or hand-held power equipment. Hearing and respiratory protection is strongly advised.
• Never work alone.
• Shoes are required.
• Tie back long hair and secure loose clothing or dangling jewelry.
• Walkmans/MP3 players are not allowed while using any power equipment.
• No home projects or storage of material .
• All tools must remain in the shop.
• New wood only! Painted wood or material with nails or concrete may not be used in conjunction with power equipment.
• Never leave a piece of equipment while it is still moving.
• Always set up your cuts and adjustments with the equipment unplugged.
• Always ask the technician when you think there is a problem with the saw, if the equipment seems broken, if you have a question or need help.
• Keep work surfaces intact. Do not drill, nail, or cut into work tables.
• Don't let familiarity with a piece of equipment cause a careless mistake. Use the equipment with the same caution you observed the first time.
• Respect the equipment and be mindful of their capabilities, good and bad.
• When you are finished with a piece of equipment, turn it off, wait for it to stop moving, unplug it, and then thoroughly clean up your area. Leave your area cleaner than you found it.

Failure to observe and comply with these regulations may result in the forfeiture of your shop privileges.

Signing a training policy/use sheet is required before the use of any equipment in the workshop.
