The
Visual Communciation Division of the Department of Art
at Kansas State University would like to welcome you
to the web version of the Type: Aesthetic+Function exhibition.
The
exhibit opened at the Art Center on the Kansas Wesleyan
University campus in August of 2001. It opened at the
William T. Kemper Gallery at Kansas State University
in September. During the year 2002 it will travel to:
The
Women's University, Seoul Korea, March 2002
Fachhochschule Trier, Trier, Germany, June 2002
University of Dundee, Jordanstone School of
Art and Design, Dundee, Scotland, October 2002
Participating
Designers were chosen based on their quality of work,
their contributions to Visual Communication Design education
and on the recommendations of one outside reference
outside of the exhibit curator.
The
emphasis on how designers communicate with type was
a key issue in curating the exhibit. The pieces exhibited
by each designer provide a unique voice and personality.
In
addition to the exhibition the Visual Communication
Division awarded the Varney's Award for Contributions
to Design Education. This year's recipient was Andreas
Hogan, Fachhochschule Trier, who was presented a plaque
and a travel award.
