ARTIST'S
STATEMENT
I
am impressed with visual contrast when structures constructed
by humans are seen in the natural environment. Sculpture,
buildings, bridges, highways, and other forms created
outdoors provide motivation for the visual content of
my work. I respond to surfaces made of wood, concrete,
steel, glass and stone in relation to patterns such
as grass, dirt, water and foliage as witnessed in nature.
Reference to subject is explored by utilizing the widest
range of graphite application I can discover from chemical
mixtures that allow it to be converted into a liquid
at one extreme to traditional pencil applications at
the other.
