International Undergraduate Admission

Application procedure

A non-refundable $80 application fee must be submitted with your application. Only international money orders or U.S. currency will be accepted. No request for admission will be processed until this fee has been received in the Office of Admissions. Application fees are subject to change without notice.

Please answer all questions on the admission application form. If a question does not apply to you, please answer with N/A (not applicable). Sign the application to certify accuracy and completeness. An incomplete application may delay processing.

You can also apply electronically here. Your application will not be processed until we receive the application fee or verify your credit card payment.

Application deadline

Fall June 1
Spring October 1
Summer March 1
Delay in meeting these deadlines could eliminate your application from being considered.

Academic documentation

We strongly recommend that you to submit an academic evaluation report from a credential service. Applications can be processed more quickly when you provide a credential evaluation. The service used must be member of NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services). A list of current NACES members is available here.

If you do not use a credential evaluation service, you must provide translated copies of your entire secondary and post-secondary schools records from your home country. If you have attended a college or university in the United States, transcripts from these colleges must also be sent directly from each registrar's office to the Kansas State University Office of Admissions. No admissions decisions will be made until your final transcript(s) have been received. All documents submitted become the property of the university and cannot be returned.

Financial Documentation

Kansas State University requires a proper and current affidavit of support from your sponsor stating that he or she will provide $32,315 for each year of study at Kansas State University and a statement of verification from the sponsor's financial establishment. The form required by Kansas State University for this purpose is available here. You must have the form signed by your sponsor and notarized by a public government official within one year of your intended enrollment at Kansas State University. Unfortunately, we do not have scholarships or other financial assistance funds available for undergraduate international students.

Please note: Students may not sponsor themselves or other students. The financial affidavit must be signed by someone other than the student making the application or the student's spouse.

Kansas State University does not accept certificates of balance as a substitute for the signed bank portion of the affidavit. If your sponsor's bank is unable or unwilling to sign the form, the bank must submit a letter to the Office of Admissions stating its policy.

English language proficiency documentation

If you plan to submit TOEFL scores, you should complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as soon as possible. Arrangements to take or submit the TOEFL may be made by contacting the following address:

Selection criteria

In most cases, international applicants seeking admission to Kansas State University must meet the same academic standards for admission as American students. There are wide variations, however, between educational systems throughout the world that make exact comparisons of educational standards difficult. You will be admitted on the basis of your prior academic work, probability of success in your chosen curriculum, and certification of adequate financial resources.

English proficiency assessment

All new students whose primary (native) language is not English are scheduled to take a proficiency assessment of written and spoken English before they can enroll. The purpose of this test is to ensure that you have adequate proficiency to learn in an English-speaking classroom environment at K-State. This test is part of the enrollment schedule, and you are registered to take the test based on the information you provided on your application. If your results indicate that you need to take necessary English support courses, the director of the English Language Program may recommend one of the following enrollment options:
  • Full-time study in the English Language Program until adequate proficiency is demonstrated.
  • A combination of part-time study in the English Language Program and part-time study in your academic area until adequate proficiency for full-time academic stud is demonstrated.
  • For more information about the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and available English classes, please go to: www.ksu.edu/elp

Transfer credit from other countries

Transfer credit may be awarded for university level studies completed abroad, based on the official records and certificates you submitted with your application. Credit for previous academic work completed outside the United States is evaluated on individual basis. When you are accepted for admission, advanced credit is awarded on the basis of post-secondary records submitted. If advanced credit is not granted, credit may be earned by validation for comparable courses through departmental examination, successful completion of higher level courses, or acceptable recommendations. Syllabi, course descriptions, and test results may be required to facilitate the evaluation. You should bring these documents with you. Evaluation may be delayed until after you enroll. Final determination of the amount of academic credit will not be made until after you are admitted to the university.

Health insurance

Kansas State University strongly recommends that all international students and their dependents be covered by health insurance. If insurance is not supplied by a sponsor or agency, you can purchase it upon arrival. Health insurance should be maintained during your entire stay at Kansas State University.
